If you don't have your own email addressl
The Enquiry Service uses Email to transfer Enquiries and Responses between Advisers and visitors. This means that vistors can only make use of this service if
the can provide a valid email address.
However not everyone has an email address (or perhaps it is a work email address and not suitable for receiving business advice).
If you don't have a suitable existing Email address you can;
- Obtain an free Email address from a service provider. There are many such providers for instance Hotmail
- check the monthly Computer magazines for more details.
or
- Request a special address from the sba service.
Note this can only be used for communicating with the service.
To obtain an address from the sba service you must supply your first and last names and Post Code on the Registration form -
leave the Email field blank.
The service will check that you want an sba address and haven't just forgotten to input an email address!
If you confirm your request the system will allocate a temporary email address within the service and an associated PIN number. It will
alo create your private "Personal Communications Page" where you messages will be stored
Using a Personal Communications Page and associated email address and PIN enables anyone without their own Email address
to enjoy the benefits of this service using any Browser (for instance via a Public library). This facility can also be used to avoid using
an existing email address when it is sensitive (for instance a visitor planning to start their own business may not want Adviser replies coming into
their work email address!)
Note, Personal Communications Page and associated address is a facility supplied by the Small Business Advice Service. The address provided -
while it looks like a standard email address, cannot be used outside of this service.
Additional details can be found via the PCP button on the registration form.
